STDs

STDs are spread mainly during oral, vaginal or anal sex (some are spread by skin-to-skin contact, like Syphilis and Herpes). Many people have no symptoms and a lot of people misinterpret symptoms. The best way to prevent long-term damage from STD infection is to get tested regularly! Many Sexually Transmitted Diseases attack the reproductive organs and, if left untreated, can cause irreversible reproductive harm, including loss of sexual pleasure, infertility in both men and women, an inability to get hard for men (and no - Viagra® won’t help; it’s permanent!) and most untreated STDs will cause permanent scarring and tissue damage to the infected area. Some STDs will cause death if left untreated and most can also be transferred to babies during childbirth, possibly causing blindness and/or complications resulting in permanent life-long disability or even death.

Most STDs can be prevented by the proper use of a latex condom or dental dam. Give your partner’s equipment a good examination if you can and don’t touch anything that looks (or smells) fishy! Sores, multiple red bumps, discharge and other signs shouldn’t be ignored! If it doesn’t look right, don’t put it in your mouth, your butt or your vagina. And, even if you don’t see anything, your partner may still be infected. Remember, many people with STDs have no symptoms and you can never see HIV!
